Hi all,
I appreciate this has been discussed before and I have looked at some of the related top questions, but after lots of reading I am still thoroughly confused! I will be travelling to Tanzania later this year on a pretty standard northern circuit itinerary (Arusha - Serengeti - Ngorongoro - Manyara). I do some work with a local school (in Australia) that has an excess of various basic school supplies that we would like to donate to a school / orphanage / charity in Tanzania that might have use of them. I appreciate that several people have posted that money can be more useful, but this stuff is pretty much going to waste and we have plenty of luggage allowance to spare!
What I'm finding overwhelming is finding an organisation that might be able to use these supplies. Our TO does not work with anybody they can connect us with. Can anybody offer some suggestions of organisations that might suit? Ideally we would like to donate to an organisation working with primary school aged children but not strictly necessary.
The supplies are pretty varied, including stationary, art supplies, sports equipment, soap, toothpaste, books, calculators and more. All of this stuff is brand new and perfectly good - our school simply has more than it needs. We would like to communicate with the school / orphanage / charity in Tanzania so that we can bring the things they have most use for.
Also, we would love the opportunity to visit the school / orphanage / charity so that we can take some photos and tell the children in Australia about Tanzania. We should be able to allow a half to full day for a visit, depending on where along our itinerary it fits. However, we are travelling around Christmas time and not sure if this is likely to be a problem?
Please help.
Thanks!
I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
